Reshmi is a medical doctor from South Africa who practiced during the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. A firsthand witness to the devastation caused by the virus, especially in areas of immense poverty, she felt called to specialize in Virology. After serving for a decade, she completed a PhD in 2017 while in transition to Canada. Her PhD focused on improving health outcomes for women living with HIV, with particular emphasis on reducing mother-to-child transmission.
Born into a Christian Pentecostal home, Reshmi has been growing in her faith and serving in the church for as long as she can remember. She met Raphael at medical school who then, being a staunch catholic was drawn to a very radical Pentecostal young lady. They fought the reformation and in Raphael’s words “I lost and the Holy Spirit won”. They have been married for 22 years and have two teenage boys, Elijah and Daniel who enjoy serving alongside their parents in the apologetics ministry.
Raphael and Reshmi both served on the leadership team at Every Nation church, Durban, South Africa, mentored medical students and Reshmi served in the worship team. They also helped plant a church in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2005-2006.
A committed follower of Jesus Christ, Reshmi is engaged in Christian apologetics and is passionate about equipping believers, in particular young students, to love God with both heart and mind. Together with her husband, Raphael, she is dedicated to strengthening faith through thoughtful and gracious engagement.
Reshmi currently serves on the board of Apologetics Canada and previously served on the board of Burlington Christian Academy. Committed to discipling the next generation, she initiated a biblical worldview course for children at Lift Kids (based on the Foundation Worldview curriculum). She has been attending Glad Tidings Church for the past five years. The Samuel family love their GT fam and are all blessed and privileged to serve in the body of Christ.
