Hebrews 3:1-6 – Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession. 2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was in all God’s household. 3 For Jesus is considered worthy of more glory than Moses, just as the builder has more honor than the house. 4 Now every house is built by someone, but the one who built everything is God. 5 Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s household, as a testimony to what would be said in the future. 6 But Christ was faithful as a Son over his household. And we are that household if we hold on to our confidence and the hope in which we boast. (CSB)
Antinomianism – Taken from two Greek words "anti" (against) and "nomos" (law), and teaches that Christians are freed from the obligation to obey God's law.
Big Idea
1. Jesus gives a better law.
2. Jesus builds a better house.

Aristotle – The best way to show the superiority or quality of something was not to compare it to something bad, but rather to compare it to something good and reveal it as better than that which is good.
The Testament of Moses – “There is now no advocate for them who will bear messages to the Lord on their behalf in the way that Moses was the great messenger, He, in every hour both day and night, had his knees fixed to the earth, praying and looking steadfastly toward him who governs the whole earth with mercy and justice, reminding the Lord of the ancestral covenant and the resolute oath.”
The New Commandment of the New Covenant:
John 13:34-35 - “I give you a new command: (pause) Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Matthew 16:18-19 – I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven.
The Celtic Way of Evangelism:
1. Incarnational Mission -> Go live amongst people outside of the Christian faith
2. Communitas -> Set up hub communities that lived out the kingdom ethics of Jesus in these pagan communities. Invite people to join in the journey “Belong before you believe”
3. Holistic Gospel -> Taught how the gospel spoke to our spiritual needs as well as our emotional, relational, and social needs
Hebrews 4:14-16 - Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens—Jesus the Son of God—let us hold fast to our confession. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. 16 Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need. N.T. Wright – “Either you believe that God’s new world has come to birth in Jesus and is there, waiting for us, as a solid and definite hope – which means you can be bold in living and acting on that basis, and can make sure and confident claims about it. Or you haven’t really understood what Christianity is all about. This isn’t a recipe for arrogance, using the gospel as an excuse for the kind of pride which covers up our own insecurities. Rather, it’s a matter for cheerful celebration, knowing that the gospel and hope it brings has nothing to do with our achievements, and everything to do with God’s love and grace.”
