Since the Province of Ontario announcement yesterday (December 21st) regarding the worsening pandemic and public health crisis, including a scheduled provincial lockdown on December 26, our Lead team has decided that it is not prudent to continue with the planned in-person Christmas Eve services.
Glad Tidings Church will hold online Christmas Eve services only, at the previously scheduled 5 pm and 7 pm start times. This means there will be no in-person services on Christmas Eve or on Sundays until further notice.
This decision acknowledges the ‘spirit' of the provincial announcement and not just the legal requirement. Our provincial government has strongly encouraged us to avoid gatherings and non-essential travel now, not waiting for December 26th.
We recognize there will be some disappointment as we were looking forward to an evening together, but we have an excellent online Christmas Eve program prepared and look forward to joining with you there.
We take seriously our responsibility to provide leadership and modelling to the broader community, recognizing that we are in the middle of a fearsome pandemic that is straining our health care system and front line responders. It will take more than our efforts to solve this but we want to do our part to contribute to a solution.
The better each of is, the better all of us will be!
