Refugee Family from Mosul, Iraq

Family's Journey
Sabah, the Father of this small, Christian family, was born in Mosul, Iraq and educated in Hotel Management in Baghdad. Shortly after beginning his career, he experienced car bombings and his life being threatened. He moved north to Mosul, in the Ninevah Plains, where his extended family lived and the people were predominantly Christian. There, he married Sawsan, and they were blessed with their children Iven and Maryana.

Their life was uprooted when ISIS invaded Mosul in 2014 and Sabah and Sawson's home was completely destroyed. Seeing the stress on their children, they ran for their lives to Jordan.

Unable to work legally, but in fellowship with the Assemblies of God Church in Amman, Jordan, the family waited and prayed to come to Canada.

Glad Tidings was connected with this family through their church and applied to sponsor them to come to Canada.

On January 29, 2018, fourteen months after GT initially applied to sponsor them, the family was interviewed by Canadian officials and was given official permission to immigrate!

It took almost a full year before they landed in Toronto on December 10th, 2018.
