Greg and Sarah first arrived in the Philippines in 2005 for a two month vision trip. With the Lord’s leading they returned to work with children and youth in crisis, and also study language from 2006 to 2009. Seeing the need to disciple youth from difficult life situations and sensing a call to fulltime ministry, they returned to Canada where Greg completed a Bachelor of Theology degree from Master’s College and Seminary. They returned to the Philippines as Global Workers in 2014 to work at ACTION International’s Second Mile Ministries, where Greg currently serves as the director.
At Second Mile Ministries, we are all about life transformation through discipleship in young men from difficult life situations. Our goal is that our students will be confident, God fearing employees, neighbours, husbands and fathers. This is accomplished through two, nine-month, weekly programs on our campus. At Honest Hands, youth (ages 15-20 years old) are trained in Bible, academics and life skills. At Working Hands, young men (ages 18-25 years old) are trained in Bible, and a technical skill such as woodworking and welding. The key to this ministry is teaching good character and good work ethic. Discipleship in both programs also takes place in the everyday activities like sports, recreation, sharing devotions, household work and spending time with the youth.
