Glad Tidings FOOD BANK
Serving those needing support in the Burlington community.

We are serving Burlington residents in genuine need of food bank services.  

All food bank orders must be pre-approved by Glad Tidings Admin (ID may be required).

Potential participants can request approval by calling the church office @ 905-335-8172 or emailing info@gtburlington.org.  

Once approved by GT Admin, qualified individuals may access this service once per month. 

How Does it Work?

During the height of the Covid-19 crisis, we were unable to receive food donations in the traditional way in order to maintain a stock of food on-site. In order to continue serving you, a team of dedicated, caring volunteers were able to provide a contactless grocery delivery service.

 

However, we are no longer able to provide this service and are changing the way we serve you, effective immediately. Access to our service will still be available once per month to those in genuine need, but we will no longer offer a delivery service. Instead, we will offer you access to our facility at 1401 Guelph Line to pick up a grocery card that you may use to supplement your monthly grocery needs.

 

As previously, you will still request access to this service via our website at www.gtburlington.org/foodbank or by calling 905-335-8172. It is important to note that a pick-up time must be selected AND subsequently approved by GT staff, and drop-ins or specific store requests will not be accommodated. Food card amounts are pre-determined based on specific criteria and may vary from month to month. You may not "double-up" because you missed a previous month. This is a service provided for those in genuine need ONCE per month. Food cards are to be used for food and hygiene items only and we reserve the right to request your purchase receipt at any time. Failure to provide may result in your removal from the program.

 

All food bank orders must still be approved by GT staff and you may be required to show identification and proof of address or income at any time. 

 

Please note that there may be delays due to the Covid-19 virus. You will receive a confirmation via email OR telephone after your order is received from a GT staff member. Please DO NOT visit our facility until you receive this confirmation verifying the time you selected for pick up is available. Be sure to check your junk email if you are experiencing a delay. 

 

If you are experiencing an URGENT food crisis, please contact the Region of Halton by dialing 311 and they will direct you to the nearest available service.
