ROBERT Abaliwano

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour as a 9-year-old and rededicated my life to Him as a young adult, which was the beginning of my transformation. I give the Lord all the praise for the journey that He has set me on. As a young adult, I led a home church group at the Watoto Church in Uganda.

My wife, Brenda, and I arrived in Canada in 2005. We soon found home in a nearby church, namely Liberty International Church, in Etobicoke, where I had the opportunity to serve on the board as Vice Chair. I was involved in other roles including the finance team, the ushering & greeter’s team and the set-up team. I also enjoyed a role as a bus warden, picking up youth from the neighbourhood and bringing them to church every week.

We moved to Oakville in 2008 and joined Glad Tidings Church in the summer of 2013. At Glad Tidings, I currently serve as a member of the greeting team. I also serve as Treasurer on the Reach One Touch One Ministries Canada board, a Christian charity organization that supports older persons to live dignified and fulfilled lives in Uganda and Ethiopia. Professionally, I am an IT Business Consultant and currently provide my services to a government entity.

Brenda and I have been blessed with 3 children, a daughter and two sons. I have a passion for sports and have coached the boys under 9 soccer teams at the Oakville Soccer Club.

Glad Tidings has been our home church for a while now and my family love it here. I thank the Lord for having directed our footsteps to this church family. My journey started in East Africa and I cannot wait to see what that Lord has in store for me. It would be an honour to serve on the board and contribute even more to the church family.

Dave Barnaby

I became a Christian at the age of 15. Since then, I have had the opportunity to serve the Lord as a youth leader, as a member of the board of deacons and in various other capacities at our local Assemblies of God church in Kingston, Jamaica.

My wife Joy and I immigrated to Canada in 2006 and we started attending Glad Tidings shortly thereafter. Though we were new to the country, we immediately found community and fellowship among our small-group friends who made GT feel like home. Joy and I have two wonderful children and we are truly blessed to be part of our GT family.

I have a background in education and a professional designation in Applied Behaviour Analysis. I work as a behaviour therapist with Christian Horizons, a large developmental service agency in Ontario and Saskatchewan. As part of my role, I design behaviour analytic programs and provide training for staff teams to better support individuals who experience disabilities.

Over the years at GT, I have had the privilege of serving on the communion team, the security team, at the welcome centre and I currently volunteer with the Lift Kids children’s ministry. In 2015, I was fortunate to have been part of an amazing team of volunteers who went on a mission’s trip to Guatemala. I came away richly blessed and yet with a lingering reminder of what an honour it is to serve as against being served. It would be a privilege to once again serve on the GT board and in whatever capacity as the Lord would lead.

Sandy Botembo

I made the decision to accept Jesus Christ into my life in 2004 at Kennedy Road Tabernacle in Brampton where I then met my husband Kuame. We have four children and we have been attending Glad Tidings since 2014. I have served with kids ministry specifically on the leadership team in nursery and preschool at GT’s Aldershot site.

For the past 5 years I have facilitated Betrayal & Beyond groups for women who have been affected by sexual betrayal as well as led Sexual Integrity 101 workshops the past 2 years. In the past I have served on the board of directors at Restorations Second Stage Homes which is a non for profit organization that exists to support survivors of sexual exploitation and trafficking by providing long-term residential housing and holistic care. I have also served in the areas of community outreach, prison ministry and pregnancy care and crisis ministry.

Most recently I have been supporting and helping women as a betrayal trauma and recovery coach. I am a certified IPEC professional life coach as well as I am working towards my certification with APSATS (Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists) as a trauma informed certified partner coach.

I believe I have been called to do this work which I am very passionate about. It is an honor to walk along side of women to offer hope and assist in empowering women towards healing and wholeness. I continue to seek the Lords will in my life and wait expectantly for His leading.

For the last 31 years, I've made Glad Tidings my home church. During that time, I've had the great fortune of serving as a bandleader & musician, a small group leader, a coach for young members, planning strategic initiatives, and I have even been known to help cook hamburgers. Being born, raised, and baptized at this church has been an incredible blessing in my life.

Professionally, I am the Director of Ecommerce & Marketing, managing nationwide digital marketing campaigns designing complex eCommerce websites, and building customer service teams for a national Baby Brand, solving challenging problems by integrating multiple disciplines and building well-connected and productive teams.

On a personal note, I'm a husband to my wonderful wife, Olivia, who serves in the children's ministry and many areas around the church and father to my young son Cole. I love rock climbing, playing guitar, reading theology and philosophy, watching movies with my family, and anything that forces me to learn a new skill!
Extending my service to the church as a board member would be a true honour.

I have been a member of Glad Tidings since my family made Burlington our home in 2005.  My lovely wife, Delia, and I have 3 wonderful children involved in the youth and junior high programs.  I am a high school teacher in Mississauga.

I accepted Christ as Saviour when I was a child, was baptized at age 11, and have followed Christ ever since.  Since joining the congregation at Glad Tidings, I have served as a Board Member, a member of the worship team, a small group leader, and Musical Director of Kid's Praise.  One of the biggest growth experiences of my faith was back in 2015, when I had the privilege to take part in a life-changing missions' trip to Guatemala.

My prayer is that the Lord will continue to direct my path, as I seek to bring glory to Him and to share Gods love with others boldly.

I accepted Christ as my Savior when I was in High school and have continued to see His Transforming Power at work in my life. My husband Simon, and I, have the awesome privilege of raising 3 children and have been members of GT for over 7 years.  During this time, I served in the Greeters Ministry and Library and now focused on Womens’ Ministry – Mentoring Program.

Professionally, I work for a Global Consulting firm helping our clients in their Digital Transformation journey mainly focusing on Robotics and AI.  I also serve on the Board of SOS Children’s Villages Canada.

Am passionate about Discipleship, Leadership development and Community Outreach.  I know God has great plans for our Church and Community and look forward to supporting GT in any way I can.

I was raised in a non-Christian home however the Lord had a different plan for my life.  One day I heard a song that had a profound effect on my heart and I have never been the same since. That song is “He Lives, He Lives, Christ Jesus lives today.  He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way…” I so wanted that joy I felt to be a part of my life that I surrendered to the Holy Spirit’s tug on my heart and accepted Jesus as my Lord in 1977.

My journey since has been filled with many turns and twists, but I believe all of it worked together to bring my family and I to Glad Tidings in 2017.  We walked in a week after we moved to Burlington and knew that is where we were meant to be.  Since attending GT, I served in various areas under the CARE Ministry including ministering at Wellington Square LTC facility, Coach: Caregivers, Shut-Ins and Hospital Ministries, assistant prayer ministry Coach as well as Chaplain, Palmer Place. I briefly served in the LIFT Kids ministry.  I am also a part of the mentoring team and minster occasionally at the GT monthly prayer service.  I have been on a couple GT mission trips.  Outside of GT, I minister at a Church in Trinidad whenever I visit and I am a volunteer at Oakville Trafalgar Hospital and also served on the Board.

Prior to Glad Tidings my husband and I with our three children and our two daughters-in-law served in various areas of ministry in leadership roles at our previous church including teaching, preaching, adults and young adults Sunday School, leading praise and worship and Womens’ Ministry. While I consider all service unto the Lord to be good, for me, the Great Commission, making disciples, teaching and encouraging others to live according to the Word and allowing the Word to transform their lives is the most important.  That’s my passion.

I recently read something that struck a chord. “The church doesn’t need more people who think they’re leaders, it needs more people who know they’re servants.  I would be honored to serve my GT family at the Board level, however, wherever and however God choses to have me serve you, will be an honor.

My wife Ruth and I were born in Windsor, Ontario and grew up in the Windsor Pentecostal Church. We gave our hearts to the Lord as children. We have 3 married children and family that has grown to 23, with a new addition expected shortly. We are thankful to have a son-in-in law, grandson and grandson-in-law in full time ministry.

I have been privileged to serve on a number of PAOC boards and committees; including the Master’s College and Seminary Board of Governors, the Pentecostal Financial Services Group and as a Church Treasurer prior to our move to Burlington. Since moving to Burlington and GT,  I have helped Ruth during her leadership of the GT Ladies Bible Study and Wee College for the last 10 years. Before COVID I was part of the communion team at GT. I enjoy the study of God’s word and the GT men’s group activities.

ROLI Segun-Ajala

I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior at the tender age of 10. After slipping and sliding, peeping and hiding I rededicated my life to Him as a young adult. I grew up in a Christian home back in Nigeria and together with my husband, Segun and our 2 children we moved to Canada in 2015.

Since arriving Canada and making Burlington our home, our family has been attending Glad tidings church where I have served in the greetings team and Lift kids ministry. I currently serve as part of the Ushering team and as a Mentor in the GT Women’s Ministry Mentorship programme. Outside of GT, I volunteer as a financial advisor on the board of a charity called Family Hub Foundation, which supports and guides immigrant families in finding stability in Canada.

Professionally, I work in accounting at a local manufacturing company here in Burlington while I pursue my CPA designation.

I love God passionately and my desire is to love people genuinely so that they might experience God’s love and come to know the Father through me. I am truly honored by this opportunity to serve and open to whatever ways the Lord is calling me to Live for Him and Live for people in our church and community.
